How is monthly credit card interest calculated?
We apply the periodic rate each month: balance × APR ÷ 100 ÷ 12, rounded to the nearest cent, then subtract your payment.
What if my payment is less than the monthly interest?
The balance would grow forever. The calculator shows an error when your payment does not exceed that month's interest charge.
Does this include fees or new purchases?
No. It assumes a fixed balance and the same payment every month until the card is paid off.
